What advice would you now give to someone writing his/her first scientific paper?

The best advise I have for someone writing their first paper would be to leave plenty of time to do all your research and time to write it then rewrite it. On this paper I started doing my research I started taking notes on then I had to rewrite it. Do all your research up front. That way you all the information you need to get your paper done. And proof read, proof read, proof read. It doesn't matter how many times you proof read you will always find something correct or change. And most of all GOOD LUCK!!!!!

~Last Week~

With your paper done or almost done, how do you feel ?

Well at this point I wish my paper was done!! I spent a lot of time on my rough draft because for once I couldn't think of anything to say. So as you can imagine I had a slow start. But with I also have about half my paper complete so that is kind of relieving. I am hoping to get my final paper done in time to be able to submit it to the writing center. I have used it once before and I feel I definitely should use it again.

So I guess I am relieved that it is almost time for a small break and then I get to start all over again.

~Continue My Blog~

Do you plan to continue your blog even after the course?

I will have to be honest with you if this weren't part of a grade I probably wouldn't be taking time out of my day to post on it. I do use facebook which is pretty much the same thing but I don't use it as much as I used to. I do enjoy posting to my facebook page maybe because it keeps me connected with my family which most of them live over an hour away and it helps me keep connected with my classmates from junior high and high school days. It even helps me keep up with what is going on in the lives of my friends that I am currently connected with.

So as much as I like this blog thing I probably will spend most of my time doing school work and keeping my facebook page updated.

~Peer Reviews~

How do you feel about peer reviews? What have your experiences with them been like?

I personally love the peer reviews. I can read something I have written over and over and everything I have in a report makes sense to me but when you have someone else read what you have written they may find things that don't make sense to them because they don't know what I am thinking. I guess it is almost what you would call thinking outside the box. OK maybe it isn't like thinking outside the box it is more like..... peer review!! :-)

I have never had a less than desirable experience with peer reviews. Everyone has always given great feedback and never been negative. I take everyone's opinion and run with it. I always keep an open mind and read everyone's opinion with a positive attitude.

~Sharing the past six weeks~

Hello all my blog buddies!! I hope everyone that got snow is enjoying it. As you can see from the picture below I am trying to enjoy the 2.5 feet of it that we got!!! This is my house @ 4:10 on 12-19-09. We still had 6 hours of snow after I took this picture!!

In the past six weeks I have done a lot of transitioning. I just recently go married and moved into our new home so my life has been total chaos for a while now. To add to the stress of all those post wedding tasks my Grandma past away and my husbands good friend Hart was killed in a hunting accident. So as you can imagine life has been anything but normal for me for a while. We still struggle with his lose. I know I can so for me that I think about him everyday of the week. It is still hard to believe he is gone. But with Christmas around the corner, an almost eight year old daughter, a new husband, a full time job and school work to keep up with I am struggling to get back into a routine. I need structure in my day, I can't just go with the follow and that is pretty much what I have been doing for a while now so I am feeling quite unorganized these days!

I hope everyone takes sometime to enjoy the holidays but more importantly to relax.

~Influences~

Hello all. I have chosen to talk about: How is school influencing your life at or up to this point?

I know that taking these classes has changed a lot for me. Before I started taking these online classes I had a very hard time trying to explain my thoughts in writing and somethings when I was face to face with someone. They have helped me, I would say, stimulate my brain. I feel like I can think more in depth about things and make more sense of things I am being told or just anything in general I am trying to understand. I don't know if I would necessarily say that this is an influence but it is definitely a change I can see.

What would you do if someone used something you created without giving you credit?

Hello everyone.
I would have to say I know how it feels to work really hard on something whether it be a project for school or a project for work and to be very proud of the accomplishment. But to have someone else turn it in and take credit for it as if they did all the hard work on it would upset me greatly. When I have accomplished something great I want those who see it to know that I did it. Credit needs to be given where credit is due.
